Disinfecting Vinyl Coated Fabrics

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently posted a list of registered antimicrobial products for use against Novel Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19. Information regarding these products can be found on the EPA’s website.

The following products on the EPA list have been tested on Naugahyde® vinyl-coated fabrics following the BIFMA protocol.

  • 10% Bleach Gel (1:10 dilution in water)
  • Super Sani-cloths
  • Virex™ II, 256

To revitalize your vinyl after extensive cleaning, we recommend:

  • 303 Aerospsace Protectant – use once every 2 weeks.

Important Notes:

  • Cleaners/disinfectants should be used at the manufacturer recommended dilutions and never in concentrated form.
  • After each application disinfectants must be wiped off with clean water and dried with a clean towel to remove any chemical residue that could discolor or degrade the material surface.

The results for the cleaners/disinfectants listed do not imply “approved” or that the results are guaranteed. These evaluations are indicators after laboratory testing and may not be indicative of field performance. Failure to follow the appropriate dilution recommendations/directions when using these cleaners/disinfectants, including the application of a clean water rinse after each application can cause surface deterioration/product failure and will void any warranty claim.
